Arsenal 2-0 Olympiakos Stats: Martinelli and Saka Goals Secure Comfortable Win for Gunners

Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka saw Arsenal pick up a 2-0 win over Olympiakos at the Emirates Stadium on Matchday 2 of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal made it two wins from two in the Champions League this season with a routine 2-0 victory over Olympiakos at the Emirates Stadium, ending a run of three successive home defeats against the Greek club.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka both scored for the Gunners, but in truth, the scoreline doesn’t truly represent how comfortable they were throughout the game.

Arsenal took only 12 minutes to open the scoring. Martinelli tapped in from close range after Viktor Gyökeres’ goal-bound shot was well saved by Konstantinos Tzolakis before rebounding off the post at the feet of the Brazilian.

That goal continued a hot streak of form for Martinelli, who has now scored in three of his last five competitive appearances for the Gunners after scoring in three of his previous 24 apps.

Ayoub El Kaabi, so often a source of goals for Olympiakos in Europe having entered the game with a record of 21 goals in 24 major European games for the club, thought he’d found an equaliser midway through the second half. After seeing his header saved by David Raya, he slid the follow-up into the back of the net but was ruled offside.

Saka doubled Arsenal’s advantage in added-time, playing a one-two with Martin Ødegaard before firing the ball through Konstantinos Tzolakis’s legs to score Arsenal’s sixth goal via a substitute in all competitions this season – only Brighton (10) have more among Premier League clubs.

Of all sides to have featured in the last two editions, Arsenal have also conceded fewer goals per game than any other team in the competition (0.69 – 18 in 26 games), so it was unsurprising to see Mikel Arteta’s side keep their opponents out in this game.

Going back to last season, Arsenal have now won their last six games in the league phase of the Champions League and will be looking to make it seven when they face a tricky encounter at home versus Atletico Madrid on MD3.
