Monster: The Ed Gein Story
Friday 3 October, Netflix
Charlie Hunnam as Ed Gein (Photo: Netflix)After finding success – and quite a lot of controversy – with the disturbing stories of murderers Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez brothers, Ryan Murphy’s anthology turns its attention to Ed Gein. The “godfather of all serial killers” (as Netflix is choosing to call him) was famous for taking bodies from their graves and using their skin and bones to create clothes, masks and furniture. Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam plays Gein as an isolated man with an unhealthy obsession with his mother (Laurie Metcalf) and a psychosis that would drive him to carry out unspeakable crimes.
Victoria Beckham
Thursday 9 October, Netflix
Victoria Beckham (Photo: Netflix)Following on from her husband David’s Netflix documentary in 2023, the same team have filmed Victoria Beckham for another behind-the-scenes series. As well as charting her rise to fame in the nineties and her post-Spice Girls career move from pop star to fashion designer, the three-part film will also follow the artist formerly known as Posh Spice as she prepares to show her latest collection at Paris Fashion Week. Expect to be surprised – the Beckham matriarch is much funnier and cleverer than she’d have you believe.

The Diplomat season three
Thursday 16 October, Netflix
Rory Kinnear as Nicol Trowbridge and Keri Russell as Kate Wyler (Photo: Nick Wall/Netflix)The last time we saw US ambassador to the UK Kate Wyler (Keri Russell), she had just accused the Vice President of masterminding a terrorist plot while also admitting that she was after her job. At almost the exact same moment, the President died, making VP Grace Penn (Allison Janney) the commander in chief. Now in season three of the twisty political drama, Kate finds herself in a job she never wanted, while her husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) grapples with the fact that the President’s death might be his fault. Who said being a diplomat was easy?

The answers lead her to Florence, where entrepreneur Cameron Beck (Tom Hollander) is waiting for her with a job offer to work on a powerful – and dangerous – new piece of technology. But when Iris discovers the device’s true potential, she steals the plans and goes on the run, swiftly pursued by Cameron and his cronies.

As he begins to investigate the circumstances of his dear old dad’s passing, Laz gets tangled in a series of cold case murders – including that of his sister 25 years ago.
Nobody Wants This
Thursday 23 October, Netflix
Adam Brody as Noah and Kristen Bell as Joanne (Photo: Erin Simkin/Netflix)Nobody Wants This seemed to come out of the blue, but it was a huge hit for Netflix last year. The romance between an agnostic, acerbic podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and “hot rabbi” Noah (Adam Brody) had a happy ending, with the pair seeming prepared to put aside their religious differences to make way for true love. But the mere existence of a second season suggests things might not be as simple for them as we thought. This time, we’ll see them work through what it really takes to convert to a different religion for your partner and merge your two very different lives together. At least they have each other… right?
