Miyaka Chang from Taiwan has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Michigan beginning in fall 2026.

I’m beyond grateful to my family, friends, and coaches for their constant support throughout this process, and to the coaches at the University of Michigan for this wonderful opportunity. Go Blue!”
This past July, Chang represented Taiwan at the 2025 World Championships. There she finished 32nd in the 50 backstroke with a 29.25 as well as 32nd in the 200 back with a 2:17.34. Earlier this year in April, she posted a 2:14.56 in the 200 backstroke at the National High School Athletic Games.

100 back: 1:02.02 (54.79) 200 back: 2:14.56 (1:59.06)The Michigan women finished 3rd at the 2025 Big Ten Championships and went on to finish 9th at the 2025 NCAA Championships. Rising junior Stephanie Balduccini of Brazil led the team at NCAAs with 29 individual points including a 3rd place finish in the 200 free.
It took a 53.97 in the 100 back and a 1:57.84 in the 200 back to make it back for finals at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. Michigan graduated its top backstroker from this past season as Casey Chung led the team with a 51.42 in the 100 back and a 1:53.87 in the 200 back. Arriving this fall was Bella Sims as she transferred from Florida and has two years of eligibility remaining so Chang will overlap with Sims for one season.
Chang will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2026 along with Hazel Huilman of Colorado, Gioia Balzano of Florida, and Gilaine Ma of Hong Kong.
