UCLA football mutually parted ways with offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri on Tuesday night, a source familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly told the Southern California News Group.
The Los Angeles Times reported news of Sunseri’s departure first Tuesday.
Sunseri, who joined UCLA (0-4) after helping lead Indiana to the College Football Playoff as the co-offensive coordinator, stumbled in his four-game tenure calling plays for the Bruins. UCLA ranked third to last in points per game in the country (14.2 points per game), and landed in the bottom quarter of the nation in total offense per game, averaging 321.2 yards per game.
Sunseri did not call plays while coaching at Indiana, where he was also quarterbacks coach. Taking the offensive coordinator’s job at UCLA was the East Coast native’s first opportunity to create his own playbook.
The Bruins, however, never led in any game this season — and failed to score in the first quarter of any game in 2025.
Tight ends coach Jerry Neuheisel, who is also the longest-tenured coach in Westwood, will assume offensive playcalling duties for UCLA’s game against No. 7 Penn State on Saturday.
Now, four games into the 2025 season, all three of DeShaun Foster, Ikaika Malloe and Tino Sunseri — the head coach and his two coordinators — are all out in Westwood.
