"Congratulations on your knighthood, Sir Gary Oldman?️," the Prince of Wales and his wife, Kate Middleton, captioned an Instagram Stories photo of the actor standing before Prince William at the ceremony.

In another snap of the Harry Potter actor, they added, "Well done to everyone receiving honours today."

While chatting with the future king on the day of his knighting, Oldman told The Standard that the British royal is a fan of his Apple TV+ show Slow Horses. He said that Prince William quipped, "I just want to give you a good wash," of seeing Oldman in character on the series. To that, Oldman said he replied, "Well, I think I’ve scrubbed up OK today."

Of receiving the knighthood, Oldman told the publication, “It was emotional. Very emotional. We spoke [for] a minute, but I almost couldn’t find my voice.

He continued, "I think I feel very honoured, very humbled and flattered, I think in equal measure. It compares to nothing else. It’s a singular event, that is what it is. I thought the Oscar was a big deal. No disrespect to the academy, but it sort of pales in comparison to this. It’s just been wonderful.”

Goldman added of Prince William, "He said he was very happy that I was here today and that it was him that had the opportunity to present me with [the honor]."
