ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The public showed up in force Monday at Monroe Community College’s downtown campus for the Finger Lakes Workforce Development Center’s open house. The event aimed to prepare attendees for high-demand jobs in fields like advanced manufacturing and robotics.
You don’t have to go to college to start a good-paying career, organizers said.
Robin Cole Jr. highlighted the opportunities available, saying, “I think a lot of times, people just don’t realize what opportunities are out there. Open house exposes these individuals to that.”
“We have everything from four days to 20-week trainings,” Cole said. He emphasized that many believe they need to attend school for two years to enter certain industries.
“I can come right off the street and we can train you here,” Cole said.
