ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills beat the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and, as always, the tailgates leading up to the game were full of energy. One of those tailgates took place at the home of Bill and Patti Larson, who live around the corner from Highmark Stadium.
“My wife loved it. She went ahead and told the realtor, I want the house for this much money. I want it by the end of the month. Get me in this house. And she turned to me and said, how do you feel about it, Bill? I was excited,” Larson said.
That was 15 years ago and since then, Bill, a big fan of the Bills, has dedicated his garage to his favorite team. Flags, hats, signatures, and some figures. All the bits and even some mitts. Bill, in his garage, has it all. But it’s not the memorabilia that means the most.
“It’s not what’s in here. It’s the people that come in here. That’s our favorite memory,” Larson said.
That’s both Bills Mafia and the Bills themselves. Josh Allen and former Bill Stefon Diggs have all hung out at the garage. Even the parents of players have come, including the mother of Dion Dawkins. There’s also a tribute to late Bills owner Ralph Wilson.
“It’s a memorial for Ralph Wilson. Very special to me and it means a lot to me to have Mary Wilson in here and to give me that,” Larson said.
Larson said it’s all about showing appreciation for his Bills family.
“We have our family and we have our Bills family and we look forward to the season every year because we get to see our football family and our football family is all the people outside,” Larson said. “It’s the same people every year, every game. We just have a blast with them.”
