Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet, in its 27th meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan, approved four proposals from three departments.
The State Cabinet approved amendments to the to the Odisha Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1956, and the Factories Act, 1948, aimed at enhancing ease of doing business and labor welfare.
The key changes include extending daily working hours from 9 to 10, with shops and commercial establishments now permitted to operate 24/7 year-round, mandating Odia signboards for all shops and establishments employing 20 or more workers, allowing women to work night shifts with written consent and state-notified safeguards.
The Cabinet also approved the Godabarish Adarsha Primary School scheme. The initiative aims to establish at least one model primary school in every panchayat. In the first phase, 2,200 schools will be constructed over three years at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore, with each school receiving over Rs 5 crore. The program will later expand to cover all panchayats in Odisha.
The Cabinet sanctioned a Rs 226 crore project for the development of the Ghatagaon Tarini temple in Keonjhar and its surrounding 69 acres.
