Two of Beyond the Gates breakout stars could’ve been set on a very different trajectory had things worked out as originally intended as they have revealed they auditioned for roles other than the ones they eventually inhabited.
RhonniRose Mantilla and Brianna Roberts were interviewed on Moore, Please by soap journalist Tony Moore where they discussed everything that has occurred with Chelsea Hamilton and Alison.
During the discussion, RhonniRose and Roberts revealed that they both had originally auditioned for separate roles.
Roberts began the conversation, revealing that she hadn’t originally gone for the part of Chelsea’s crazy ex-lover Alison. “I auditioned for Chelsea, so Ronnie's role.” The actress shared to a stunned RhonniRose who knew nothing of this.
Roberts then shared, “I then auditioned for Alison. I was back home in Greensboro. I didn't have any of my equipment. I was like, "Okay, let's just do it. Let's see what happens." Didn't really think about it that much. When I got the call, I was very shocked, very, very happy.”
Roberts explained how even after accepting the role she didn’t quite know everything about the part. Sharing she was “still kind of learning like who Alison was at the time, but very blessed and I'm so happy of how far it's gone and how far it will go.”
Meanwhile, Mantilla had a slightly different journey. The actress explained, “I'm a theater girl, right? So, I was actually playing the role of Cinderella in a production of Into the Woods. We started at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival and then we had just transferred to Cleveland at Playhouse Square and I got the audition [for Beyond the Gates] in between the break from Idaho to Cleveland.
The actress then shared the role that she auditioned for, sharing, “I [originally] auditioned for the role of Kat, whose original name was Alison. I sent my tape in and the next day they were like, "No, we want you to read for Chelsea, whose name was Cheryl back then."
“I’m happy they changed that name. Just saying.”

Mantilla continued sharing, “While I was in Cleveland, I got the call and I was passed through to the creative team first and I then I had to pass through the network and then once I passed the network I gave my two weeks and yeah I was moving to Atlanta.”
