WEBSTER, N.Y. – Hundreds of people participated in the Wilmot Warrior Weekend 6K at Xerox in Webster, which raises money for the Wilmot Cancer Institute. The event also featured a 1-mile walk and a 12-mile bike ride.
The event has raised more than $500,000. Organizers said community support keeps Wilmot moving forward.
“Especially right now while there’s some threat to federal funding for cancer research, we need this support more than ever,” said director Jonathan Friedberg. “We’ve made so much progress in cancer, particularly around clinical trials. We’ve gotten our NCI designation this year that really puts us in the elite group of cancer centers.”
Fundraising for the event continues through October.
