Historic Erie Canal boat ‘Seneca Chief’ arrives in Rochester during its Bicentennial Voyage

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Celebrating the Erie Canal. On Saturday, a replica of the Erie Canal boat, “The Seneca Chief,” docked in Rochester as part of its Bicentennial Voyage.

On Sept. 24, the Buffalo Maritime Center’s Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief began its voyage. It will be making stops at 28 ports along the canal.

    While at each port, the boat will be a floating museum, allowing people to come aboard and view an exhibit that shows the canal’s history and impact.

    On Sunday, the Seneca Chief will make its way to Schoen Place in Pittsford, and to Fairport. Tune into News10NBC at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday for more of our coverage on the Seneca Chief.
