For all of the excuses we made about the Blackhawks’ first preseason game being a less-than-ideal performance, tonight should be a more watchable game. The Hawks are in St. Louis for the first half of a preseason back-to-back (which everyone, literally everyone, hates) and the Blues are skating a lineup that’s pretty well stocked with NHL players.
The Blackhawks are sending more NHL players than they did to the first game, but it’s still a mixed lineup. We’ll see how some of the young guys who are fighting for roster spots look.

n/aWhat to Watch For
Matt Grzelcyk, your table is ready! He’s in Chicago on a PTO and was on the top power play unit at the morning skate. He’s trying to show the Blackhawks — and every other organization — that he’s worth an NHL contract. Tonight is his first opportunity to do that this preseason. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say Reichel needs to show something, and he’ll be on a line with Lardis tonight that could generate some scoring chances. Korchinski and Allan appear to be on the bubble and will start the game together. Korchinski will get some run on the power play as well. When I spoke with Dach earlier in the week, he was critical of his personal performance in Detroit. I thought he had a good game. We’ll see how he approaches tonight with Moore and Greene.Get Caught Up
