CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) --- A man is now facing multiple serious charges following an early morning shooting involving a Medic ambulance in Uptown.
According to Mecklenburg County records, 23-year-old Jaquarius Hykeem Mingo was taken into custody around 3:45 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in connection with the shooting.
He is charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony conspiracy, and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle.
Photo: Jaquarius Hykeem Mingo via MCSOAccording to court documents, Mingo is accused of firing a gun into a Medic truck near the intersection of Caldwell Street and East Trade Street in the early hours of September 25.
That ambulance had a patient and crew inside at the time, but thankfully, no one was hurt. Investigators said Mingo conspired with another person to carry out the shooting.
Mingo made his first court appearance on Thursday morning. The investigation remains active, and police have not yet released a possible motive for the shooting.
Queen City News first reported the incident early Thursday morning after Medic confirmed that one of its ambulances was hit by gunfire near CMPD headquarters. Authorities said a patient was being transported for an unrelated medical issue and was safely taken to the hospital.
