The in-custody death of an inmate at the Englewood Federal Correctional Institution on Wednesday is under investigation, according to prison officials.
Mauritzio Marco Thornwall, 29, was found unresponsive at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the low-security prison in Jefferson County, according to a news release from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Employees performed life-saving measures until paramedics took Thornwall to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, prison officials said in the release.
Information about Thornwall’s cause and manner of death, where he was found in the prison and the circumstances leading up to his death was not available Thursday.
No employees or other inmates were injured, prison officials said. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified of the death.
