GATES, N.Y. – The Gates Keystone Police Club Pipes and Drums band is set to play Thursday, Sept. 25, at the funeral of three police officers killed in Pennsylvania last Wednesday. The band prepared to leave from the Gates Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
The officers died when a suspect opened fire as police were serving an arrest warrant. Two other officers were wounded, and the suspect was killed during an exchange of gunfire.
Former Gates Police Chief Jim VanBrederode is leading the band. It’s all about showing unity across state lines, he said.
