Fantasy Football QB Rankings, Who Should I Add Off Waiver Wires:

Carson Wentz (Vikings) was the highest recommended QB waiver wire pickup this week.

    Analysis

Let’s be clear up front: we’re not getting excited about Carson Wentz. That being said, the quarterback scene is a little rough, and Wentz managed 15.32 fantasy points on just 20 attempts, filling in for J.J. McCarthy in Week 3.

The Vikings led so convincingly all game long that Wentz, the backup QB, got a rest drive at the end of the game (with Max Brosmer coming in). In a contest where Minnesota doesn’t lead from wire to wire — aka one they don’t have five takeaways — and Wentz is forced to throw a bit more, he might have enough talent catching his passes, and just enough talent throwing them, to be steamable in a pinch. A very tight pinch.

Recommendation: Can be streamed in a desperate situation

Who are the best sleeper options in the Week 4 Fantasy Football QB Rankings?

Here are two of the best options to pick up on waiver wires, depending on your league size.

    Sam Darnold (Seahawks) at Cardinals

Darnold has completed 70.3% of his passes through three games. His receivers have been excellent, recording a paltry 1.4% drop rate. Darnold hasn’t just been dumping off short passes, either, with his average target depth being 8.9 yards. He has already completed 10 passes of at least 20 yards, which is something he did 62 times last season.

The Cardinals have struggled to stop opponents through the air, allowing the third-most passing yards per game in the league. What makes that stat even more scary is that the three quarterbacks they have faced are Spencer Rattler, Bryce Young, and Mac Jones. This game will be played on Thursday Night Football, but even with it being a short week, Darnold has a great opportunity to build on his early season success.

    Geno Smith (Raiders) vs. Bears

After laying an egg with 180 passing yards and three interceptions in Week 2 against the Chargers, Geno Smith bounced back to throw for 289 yards and three touchdowns against the Commanders on Sunday. It also marked his first game of the season without an interception. He has been airing things out with his new squad, posting an average target depth of 9.1 yards.

It doesn’t get much better than a matchup against the Bears, who have been hammered by injuries at cornerback. That has contributed to them allowing eight passing touchdowns, which is the most in the NFL. They have also allowed a 75.3% completion rate. Jaylon Johnson (groin) is on IR, and Kyler Gordon (hamstring) hasn’t even returned to practice on a limited basis, so Smith could exploit the Bears’ depleted secondary.
