President Trump on Wednesday blamed Democrats over the deadly shooting at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office.
“The Brave Men and Women of ICE are just trying to do their jobs, and remove the ‘WORST of the WORST’ Criminals out of our Country, but they are facing an unprecedented increase in threats, violence, and attacks by Deranged Radical Leftists,” he wrote in a Truth Social post Wednesday afternoon.
“This violence is the result of the Radical Left Democrats constantly demonizing Law Enforcement, calling for ICE to be demolished, and comparing ICE Officers to ‘Nazis,’” he continued.
One detainee was killed in the incident, and two other people in ICE custody were critically injured, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It was initially reported by DHS that two people were shot and killed.
Sources told NewsNation, The Hill’s sister station, that officials have identified the suspected gunman as Joshua Jahn, 29, of Collin County, Texas. The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shooting is being investigated as “an act of targeted violence,” and officials said anti-ICE messages were found on bullet casings at the scene.
Following his Tuesday speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Trump declared that Ukraine could regain land lost to Russia, suggesting that Moscow was actually a "paper tiger." The shift in perspective surprised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and drew ire from Russia.
Trump, meanwhile, ripped Jimmy Kimmel's return to late night. The comedian pushed back on the president's call for his removal and reiterated the need for freedom of speech.
The president has no public events on his Wednesday schedule. This evening, he's slated to host his second dinner for the exclusive Rose Garden Club in his newly renovated White House space.
