Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has another award to his name after his stellar performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3.
The Chicago Bears have a trend going that, until this morning, was unfortunate: the NFC Offensive Player of the Week was a quarterback who played in the Bears’ matchup in each of the season’s first three weeks. The Bears were on the wrong side of that trend in Weeks 1 and 2 with J.J. McCarthy and Jared Goff taking home the honor, but Caleb Williams earned the bid this week.
In a weekly press release today, the league announced that Williams’ performance against the Dallas Cowboys was good enough to earn him the honor.

Williams completed 19 of 28 attempts (67.9 percent) for 298 yards. He also tied a career-high with four touchdown passes with zero interceptions for a 142.6 passer rating, leading the Bears to a 31-14 victory over the Cowboys. His four touchdown passes led the league in Week 3.
This is the first career Player of the Week Award for Williams, who becomes the first Bears quarterback to win the award since Justin Fields in Week 9 of the 2022 season. Williams is the first Bears player to win the award since wide receiver D.J. Moore did so in Week 5 of the 2023 season.
Sep 21, 2025; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson talks with quarterback Caleb Williams (18) against the Dallas Cowboys during the second half at Soldier Field. Mandatory Credit: David Banks-Imagn ImagesBen Johnson said this week that Caleb Williams is improving, not only in the box score but also operationally. He is getting plays out quicker and getting things snapped clean, setting up the offense for more success post-snap.
“I’m looking at his numbers — 142.6 pass rating and four touchdowns. I thought he was good. And the thing that you don’t see on the stat sheet is he’s getting a lot more comfortable calling those plays in the huddle. We were able to get out of the huddle a little bit faster, and we were able to get on the line and operate a little bit cleaner as well. I was proud of him for that.”
In addition to his head coach’s assessment of Williams’ improved pre-snap operation, the film shows a much calmer and confident operation after the snap from the second-year quarterback. He wasn’t sacked once on Sunday against Dallas, something he’s never experienced in his young NFL career.
Williams’ footwork this week was the best I’ve ever seen from him, at any level. Johnson agreed:
“In terms of the execution, he’s getting a lot better. A lot more comfortable with his footwork, his repetitions. Not just for the concepts that we’ve been doing from the springtime to training camp, but we’re putting in new ones each week. He’s got a good system in place right now that he’s adhering to, and it’s showing up on gameday where we’re starting to reap some of the awards from that.”
