It’s a feat to accomplish any “first” in the NFL, but for a safety, their first career interception is oh-so sweet.
In his 20th game with the Arizona Cardinals, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, AKA Rabbit, picked off San Francisco 49ers quarterback with 5:19 remaining in an eventual Week 3 loss.
Two days removed from the special moment on Tuesday, Taylor-Demerson told Arizona Sports’ Wolf & Luke he’s “been waiting for it.”
“They say they come in bunches, so I just hope the ball keeps finding it’s way to me,” the former Texas Tech captain Taylor-Demerson said.

Through only three games in 2025, the second-year pro has three passes defensed and eight solo tackles. He had five passes defensed and 14 solo tackles all of last season.

Taylor-Demerson said the professional game speed has gotten “a lot slower,” hence why he has made such an impact in a condensed period.
He’s been just one the much-improved players on the defensive unit under coordinator Nick Rallis, and his strengths may lead to those “bunches” of INTs down the line.
“I feel like I’m a really good deep coverage defender. I feel like I read the quarterback really well,” Taylor-Demerson said. “That’s probably why I’m around the ball so much.”
And the numbers back up his cover ability, as he is rated 18th out of 123 eligible NFL safeties with a 72.4 coverage grade, according to PFF. Overall at the position, the 5-foot-10, 196 pounder from Oklahoma City is ranked 20th.
He also has been seeing a boatload of more coverage-based snaps (106) than early on as a rookie, when he only saw 161 such snaps.
Despite the perceived success, Taylor-Demerson pulled something from 18-year veteran Calais Campbell’s book and said that’s probably the worst he’s going to be.
“We’re going to get better as a defense. We’re going to keep trying to put a good product out there on the field,” Taylor-Demerson said. “That way, at the end of the year when the fat lady sings, we can be on top.”
Besides an odd (to put it lightly) pregame meal tradition he calls “Rabbit fuel,” the safety uses his voice to have his fellow defensive backs on their game. Each play he goes over the opposing offense’s personnel and just tries to makes the guys on his side “feel comfortable.”
“Just getting the guys that I’m on the side of the field just used to hearing my voice. So, I’m constantly talking whole entire time,” Taylor-Demerson said. “Doesn’t matter how loud it is. … I’ll just be out there talking, mouth as dry as it’ll get at the end of the game.”
Taylor-Demerson is third on the depth chart behind Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson, but coach Jonathan Gannon said in early August he can no-doubt impact the game.
“Rabbit’s a guy that’s in that conversation because he can take away the ball,” Gannon said. “We always look for ways to get him on the field.”
With Rallis specifically holding the defensive reins, Taylor-Demerson said he has to only trust each week’s preparation and not be “too impatient” when showing his intent because there’s always “a lot of moving parts.”
The Seattle Seahawks are next on the schedule on Thursday Night Football, a team the 24-year-old safety had success with to the tune of 12 total tackles (seven solos) and one pass defensed last season.
