A Jewel Osco security guard is under arrest after she allegedly shot a 17-year-old girl during a fight Tuesday night at a Chicago grocery store, according to a police report.
Police were called around 10:30 p.m. to the parking lot of the Jewel Osco, located at 1224 S. Wabash Ave. in the South Loop neighborhood, where they found a large crowd and a teen girl shot in the right thigh, according to a police report.
Officers placed two tourniquets on the teen until paramedics got there and took her to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was in good condition, police said.
Officers began speaking with Jewel Osco staff who told them an argument erupted between the teen girl and the security guard inside the store, which then spilled outside where the teen allegedly threw water at the guard, who took out her handgun and shot the teen, according to the report.
Witnesses gave police a description of a black SUV with Iowa plates which sped away east on Roosevelt Road after the shooting and officers followed it and pulled it over at 10:49 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Saginaw Avenue, where the guard was placed under arrest, the report said.
No charges have been announced.
