Former NFL star Greg Olsen has played down a rift with Dave Portnoy after the pair got into a heated exchange this week.
During Monday’s episode of Wake Up Barstool, Portnoy — who has recently partnered with Fox in a stunning deal — poked fun at how the legendary tight end was dressed as he appeared alongside Super Bowl-winning coach Jon Gruden.
“I didn’t want to talk during the commercial break, because all of us were audibly stunned by Greg Olsen dressing as a third base umpire for today’s show,” he began.
“What is going on with this look Greg… the shirt with the hat… a logo-less hat, it looks like you’re heading straight to the NLCS or something to call a game.
“Unbelievable straight look, here.”
Portnoy’s shot appeared to rile Olsen, and the NFL icon fired back by threatening to leave the show.
“Well, the hat is just because I haven’t done my hair this morning,” he responded.
“Listen, I’m going to be honest, if I’m going to keep getting a hard time from this show, I might just bag Monday mornings and just be like, ‘You know what? You guys are on your own. Deal with it. Good luck.’”
He then questioned Portnoy over his own fashion sense, arguing he shouldn’t be so critical of everyone else as he’s not ‘the best-looking guy in the world’.
Their back and forth was soon re-shared on social media, and racked up more than 1.3 million views over the following day, with many questioning if Olsen was legitimately upset with Portnoy.

That suggestion soon made its way back to the Barstool founder, who responded on X.
“For record, Greg is an absolute OG stole and is in on every joke,” Portnoy wrote, re-posting the viral clip.

Olsen also took to social media to further play down the incident in the hours that followed.
“Internet, Dave and I have known each other for almost 20 years,” he wrote.
“We make fun. We banter. We agree to disagree at times. We are all good!!!
“I’m currently trying to figure a way to be on Wake Up Barstool next week as I fly home from Dublin!!”
What is Greg Olsen’s history with Barstool Sports?
It’s little surprise that Olsen has moved to clarify his exchange with Portnoy, as he’s long been a supporter of the Barstool platform, and has made appearances on different shows and podcasts over the years.
He’s been a regular on Pardon My Take, where he recently opened up about his relationship with $375 million Fox Sports colleague Tom Brady, who has taken on the role of lead NFL analyst ahead of him.
Brady also had a run-in with Portnoy recently, and was left furious by the latter’s $75m Saudi payday claim.

“There’s this idea that there’s this personal animosity and competition,” Olsen explained to Portnoy’s colleague Dan ‘Big Cat’ Katz about his Fox gig.
“There’s not. My relationship with Tom and Fox and Joe Davis and (Kevin) Burkhardt and all my people at Fox couldn’t be better.
“On the other parallel line to that, yes, I want to ascend in the industry, and I’m sure Joe Davis wants to call Super Bowls as well, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like Burkhardt.
“Any motivated guy, you want to be the best at what you do. That is not a knock on the people that are ahead of you.”
