Florida native and freestyle specialist Liam Walsh has sent his verbal commitment to the University of Maine for the class of 2026.
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of Maine! I would like to say thank you to all of my coaches, family, and friends who have supported me throughout my journey. A thank you to my current coaches, Coach John and Coach Terry. Walsh attends Lawton Chiles High School, where he will be a senior this year. At last year’s Class 3A High School State meet, Walsh was a member of three relays for the team, swimming freestyle on the 200 medley relay (21.96), anchoring the 200 freestyle relay (22.51), and swimming the 400 free relay (48.19).
He also swims for the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club in Tallahassee, Florida, where he raced at the Florida Senior Championships in March. There he set lifetime best times in the 50 free (22.91), 100 free (48.41), 200 free (1:46.04), 500 free (4:44.29), and 100 breast (1:03.39).

Walsh’s times would have been 9th in the 100 free, 10th in the 200 free, and 3rd in the 500 and 1650 freestyle on last season’s team.
