HGTV star Dave Marrs gave a touching update following the death of his mother, Donna Marrs.
In a September 23 Instagram upload, Dave, who stars on Fixer to Fabulous with his wife, Jenny Marrs, shared a brief clip from "about a year and a half ago," wherein his late mother expressed gratitude for her children and grandchildren. In the video, she said she wanted her family to always remember how much she and her husband loved them.
In the caption of the post, Dave shared that he and his family "laid [his] mother, Donna May Marrs, to rest today." Dave described the service as "beautiful." In addition, he said, "so many people from all across the country came because they loved her."
"We had family, friends, and people I had never met that were there because she had a positive impact on their life," wrote Dave in the caption.
In addition, he shared that the video clip of his mother was from a project, wherein photographer Mike Davello filmed Donna and her husband recount their life story.
"About a year and a half ago, Jenny and I had @mike_davello record the history of my mom and dad," shared Dave. "We recorded their earliest memories of growing up, memories when they were young and newly married, and finally, having children and grandchildren."
He ended the caption by sharing his appreciation for his mother and her adoration for her family.
Dave shared the news of his mother's death in a September 20 Instagram post. The upload featured several pictures of Donna with her loved ones.
In the caption, Dave revealed that his mother had "lost her fight with dementia." He said that while he feels "so very sad and broken" after losing his mother, he is "trying to find comfort in: Psalm 34:18 that says 'The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.'"
"I just haven’t found that comfort yet, but I know in time, I will," continued Dave in the caption.
The father of five also said that he does "feel blessed" because his "entire immediate family was able to be together and say goodbye" to his mother, which is something Donna "would have loved." In addition, he said he was "blessed that [his] children had a great relationship with their Nana."
"Blessed that I had such a role model, as her, with me for 46 years. Blessed that we still have such an incredible Papa in my Dad," continued Dave in the caption. "So mom, please know that you were loved by everyone you met. You have run an incredible race that is now done. You can rejoice and dance, and sing, and see all of those you have lost and missed over your life."
Jenny, who also shared a tribute for Donna on her Instagram account, shared her support for her husband in the post's comments section.
"She was the brightest light. Our world here will never be the same. I’m so thankful for the promise of Eternity," commented Jenny.
Jenny & Dave Marrs Spoke About Their Relationship Dynamic in a January 2025 Interview
In a January 2025 interview with TV Insider, Jenny and Dave Marrs shared how they've been able to be present parents and partners while starring in Fixer to Fabulous, which premiered in 2018.
Jenny said that she thinks she and her husband have benefited from being in the same line of business.
"I think it’s nice because we can understand what each of us is going through instead of someone from work trying to explain something to the other if they worked in different jobs," said Jenny to the publication. "In that way, it is nice because we can rely on each other."
She also said that she appreciated her show's production team and company.
"They have been amazing. They have put some boundaries around our time and energy because of our kids and family and the things our kids need us for," said Jenny during the interview. "They’ve been amazing working with us. It’s a balancing act every year. Thankfully, we help each other carry the load. It’s dropping some balls here and there but having the train move forward."
