North Carolina native and BOTR recruit for the class of 2027 Grace Pereira has verbally committed to Auburn for the class of 2031.

Pereira earned a spot on our Way Too Early Class of 2027 recruit rankings for her skill in the breaststroke events, with best times of 1:02.62 and 2:13.26 as a sophomore in high school.
She just started her junior year at Cardinal Gibbons High School in North Carolina, a Class 4A school. At last year’s State Championships, she finished 8th in the 100 breast (1:03.39) and 9th in the 200 IM (2:03.43).
Her best time in the 100 breast was set in November at the ISCA Fall Classic meet, and her best 200 breaststroke time comes from the Speedo Winter Junior East Championships in December, when she won the ‘B’ final.
She swims club primarily with the Raleigh Swim Association. She has also participated in Wolfpack Elite’s High School sprint training group for the last two “semesters” of the program. This group meets once a week to “supplement” their club training while working on “explosiveness, technical efficiency, and sprint-specific training.”
At the 2025 USA Swimming National Championships in June, she finished 52nd in the 200 breast, touching in 2:41.49. She dropped to 2:37.62 just two months later at the Junior National Championships in August, finishing 42nd overall.
Pereira’s Best Times SCY
100 breast- 1:02.62 200 breast- 2:13.26 200 IM- 2:03.43Auburn is a member of the SEC, and their women’s team was 9th at last year’s SEC Conference Championship.
Pereira has two and a half years until she will swim her first conference meet for the Auburn team in February of 2028, but she would already add depth to the roster. In the 200 breaststroke, her time would have been 5th last season and only one of the athletes ahead of her, Audrey Crawford, will still be there when she arrives on campus. Her time of 2:13.26 is also already less than half-a-second outside of scoring position at SECs with 24th place in prelims coming in at 2:12.89.
She dropped three seconds in the 200 breaststroke last season, and if she continues to improve, she could be a massive point scorer for the Auburn team.
