Police shot and killed a person after the suspect was seen allegedly wielding a firearm on the grounds of Fay Elementary School in City Heights on Tuesday morning.
The shooting was around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Orange Avenue and 51st Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police said the suspect was fleeing from the school at the time, which is located at 4080 52nd Street.
52nd StreetIt was unclear why the suspect allegedly carried the weapon onto school grounds, but police continued to investigate, a public information officer with the department told City News Service.
The suspect was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
The number of officers involved in the shooting has not been released.
