Jaxson Dart is IN. Russell Wilson is OUT.
The Russell Wilson era is already over in the Big Apple.
Some might say it was over in a New York minute.
However you want to slice it, there is a changing of the guard with the New York Giants quarterback position with rookie Jaxson Dart being tabbed to start in the team’s Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport have more:

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 23, 2025The future is now: The #Giants are making first-round rookie QB Jaxson Dart their starter, per me and @MikeGarafolo. After just a short stint starting and an 0-3 record, Russell Wilson heads to the bench. The Giants had a package of plays for Dart. Now, they’ll unleash it all. pic.twitter.com/J2fu3MUkiK

As Patrick mentioned in Monday’s edition of Around the NFL, Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll left the door open for the team to make a change at the QB1 spot. One day later, change is in the air. The move comes just two days after Russell Wilson struggled mightily against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Wilson threw for 160 yards and threw a pair of interceptions. Fans booed and chanted for Dart. And in just a few days, Dart will get his time to shine in the New York spotlight. Good luck with that!
The New York Giants moved up in the 2025 NFL Draft to use the No. 25 overall pick on quarterback Jaxson Dart. This move came after the team signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston as free agents. Dart, who played collegiately at Ole Miss, was first-team All-SEC in 2024 after posting more than 4,200 passing yards while throwing 29 touchdowns and just six interceptions. After finishing his collegiate career with back-to-back 10+ win seasons, Dart will try to get the Giants back in the win column.
When the Bears’ 2025 schedule dropped, I wondered who would be starting at quarterback when the Giants came to town in Week 10. We still have some time before we officially get that answer. But for now, it sure as heck looks like it will be rookie Jaxson Dart.
