Bruce Springsteen is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Detroit Medley — and his birthday!
The legendary rocker, who turns 76 on Tuesday, Sept. 23, took to Instagram that same day to commemorate the anniversary of one of his most iconic mash-ups.
"50 years ago tonight in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Bruce counted off the 'Detroit Medley' for the first time — a high-octane tribute to Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Little Richard, and Chuck Willis," Springsteen's post read. "A party piece with staying power that also happened to debut on his birthday, it became a fixture of E Street Band shows over the next half-century. Happy Birthday, Bruce!"

The Detroit Medley is a mash-up two different medleys, each of which covers two other classic rock-and-roll and R&B songs. Since its debut on Sept. 23 1975, Springsteen and the E Street Band have performed the hit over 400 times — though less often in recent years.
In the comment section, fans remarked on the impact Springsteen's music has had on their lives and wished him a happy birthday.
"I love when he did that medley forming his encores!!! Best entertainer out there," wrote one fan. "Happy Birthday, Mr Springsteen! God bless you and your music, it makes us become better humans ❤️?." said another.
