A Santa Ana man was arrested Sunday night, Sept. 21, on suspicion of driving drunk and killing an 80-year-old man as he attempted to cross a street in Orange, authorities said.
The collision occurred just before 8 p.m. on La Veta Avenue near Devon Road, Orange police said.
Bryan Reyes, 26, was driving eastbound on La Veta when the crash occurred, police said. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.
He was taken into custody and booked into jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, police said.
The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of relatives.
