‘Call the FBI’ – Nate Burleson trolled for outrageous haircut-beard combo but NFL analyst fires back

Nate Burleson is known for his slick dressing.

However, the retired NFL star, who is an analyst on CBS Sports and co-hosts CBS Mornings, turned heads with his latest outfit and haircut.

Nate Burleson’s haircut has gone viral, catching fans by surprise@CBS

On Sunday’s The NFL Today show, Burleson appeared with a fresh haircut and an extremely bright yellow suit.

The suit was less surprising since his stylist is Andre Julius, who also styles NFL analyst Ryan Clark, and both men are known for their impressive outfits.

However, it was the haircut and the beard that went viral on social media.

As one side of his hair on the top of his head is raised higher than the other, while his beard has sharp, angular sideburns that form a chinstrap.

“I need an arrest warrant for Nate Burleson barber right now,” one user wrote on X.

“Call the FBI on his stylist too,” another user wrote.

“This haircut is 20 to life in 31 states,” one fan joked.

CBS Sports goes retro in NFL Today for 50th Anniversary.

It should be noted that Burleson’s cut and outfit were not random but a tribute to the 50th Anniversary of CBS Sports’ flagship show, NFL Today.

CBS, which also employs NFL legend J.J. Watt, brought back legendary host Brent Musburger as he opened the show saying his iconic “You are looking live” line.

Musburger hosted NFL Today from 1975 to 1990 and was on the program for an hour alongside regulars Burleson, James Brown, Bill Cowher and Matt Ryan.

And the broadcast featured their vintage set and graphics, with viewers experiencing an authentic 1975 program.

As seen with Burleson, the rest of the crew also dressed in retro outfits.

“For those who were curious about my *look today… The NFL Today is celebrating 50yrs of our iconic show by honoring style & vibes from the 70’s. So, how did I do?” Burleson wrote on X.

JP LoMonaco, who manages design, graphics and production for CBS Sports, revealed that his team spent hours on YouTube watching what The NFL Today looked like in the late 70s.

“You start with the obvious — you want your screen to look like that timeframe,” he said.

“So, the name fonts and matchups are going to look very similar to what you saw back then. We will work in some fun things like a cold open, just using the CBS eyeball.

“We’re doing our best to get you into a time machine and head back to 1975.”

It’s safe to say that once fans realised it was a tribute show, they loved it.

“Bravo CBS for the 1970’s/1980’s retro throwback edition of The NFL Today and bringing Brent Musburger in for it Best pregame show I’ve seen in a while,” one user wrote on X.

“I’ve been saying the NBA needs to do this FOR YEARS. Throwback jerseys, broadcast, in-arena music. Go all out for a week,” Yahoo Sports writer Kevin O’Connor wrote on X.
