ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The community honored the memory of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Sunday with two memorials, one in Hamlin and the other in Canandaigua.
People gathered at Hamlin Town Hall, some holding American flags, for the vigil. Organizers say they aimed to bring together friends and neighbors in unity and remembrance. There was also a candlelit vigil with prayers and music at the northern end of Canandaigua Lake.
The memorials took place on the same day as a service at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, where President Donald Trump spoke about Kirk’s legacy. Kirk was shot and killed on Sept. 10 while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. A 22-year-old Utah man, Tyler Robinson, has been charged with murder.
