Chicago police say a 20-year-old man has died after he was shot and crashed his vehicle in the East Side neighborhood Sunday morning.
Police were called to the 10100 block of South Avenue M at approximately 12:34 a.m. for reports of a vehicular crash.
Authorities found a silver SUV at the scene, which had flipped over after striking multiple parked vehicles. Inside of that vehicle was a 20-year-old driver, whom police discovered had been shot in the head.
The man was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A short time later, authorities were informed a 20-year-old woman had been shot in the leg during the incident, and had fled to a nearby residence for help. She was taken to an area hospital, where she was listed in good condition.
A weapon was recovered at the scene of the shooting, but no further information on a suspect was immediately available.
