Steve Spurrier put together a Hall of Fame career as both a college football player and a coach. He went on and played in the NFL, playing his first nine seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He played his final season in the NFL with the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976, as he was the first quarterback in the history of the organization. He got his first head coaching job at Duke in 1987, and he went 20-13-1 in three seasons with the Blue Devils.
His most success was at Florida, where he was the coach from 1990-2001, where he went 122-27-1. He led the Gators to a national championship appearance in 1995, and then won a national title in 1996.
He took a few years off from coaching, but became the head coach at South Carolina in 2005. During a three year stretch from 2011-2013, they won at least 11 games in every season.
