The Chicago Bears earned their first win of the season with a 31-14 triumph over the Dallas Cowboys, and Caleb Williams had one of the best games of his career.
Williams and the Bears hadn’t won a home game since Week 5 of the 2024 season against the Carolina Panthers, but that changed Sunday as the second-year quarterback threw four touchdown passes in the 31-14 victory.
Williams went 19-of-28 for 298 yards and four touchdowns in the game, and posted a passer rating of 142.6 in the victorious effort for Chicago.

According to Pro Football Reference’s Stathead tool, Williams is just the fifth Bears quarterback to throw for 250 yards, throw four or more touchdowns, and have a passer rating of 140 or better in a game, joining Mitchell Trubisky, Rex Grossman, Jay Cutler and Josh McCown.
Trubisky’s Sept. 30, 2018 performance against the Buccaneers saw him throw six touchdowns and post a perfect passer rating of 154.6, with the Bears scoring an easy 48-10 victory.
Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic also reported that Williams’ 142.6 passer rating in the game is the fourth best for a Bears quarterback who threw at least 25 pass attempts in a contest.
Finally, the game marked Williams’ 20th NFL start, and shockingly it was the first time he went an entire game without being sacked, according to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.
Williams’ 310 yards of total offense in the game also mark the fifth time he’s eclipsed 300 total yards on the ground and through the air. The win in such a game was his second, as he lost three-of-four games he hit the mark in last season.
Williams and the Bears will aim to keep the momentum building next week when they head to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders, with kickoff set at 3:25 p.m. on CBS.
