It was the Caleb Williams show at Soldier Field on Sunday.
The second-year pro had the best game of his young career, leading the Bears to a 31-14 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Williams finished with 298 passing yards and four touchdowns in a near-flawless performance, shredding Dallas’s defense. He had a 142.6 passer rating on the day. He was sacked zero times for the first time in his career.
If you ask Tom Brady, Williams’ most impressive play of the day was the first-quarter flea-flicker, where he connected with Luther Burden III on a 65-yard touchdown with a frozen rope down the left sideline.
Brady was on the call with Kevin Burkhardt as he shook his head in amazement at the 23-year-old.
“I think that was 70 yards. That would have taken me two throws,” Brady joked. “That was a ridiculous acrobatic play to even catch it.
“Then he feels the pressure, then he got his eyes down field and just [throws] a dime. I mean what a play.”
D’Andre Swift took the handoff from Williams, who then lofted it back to his quarterback. The ball seemed to hang in the air forever before Williams caught it and fired it to his rookie wide receiver.
Brady admitted he couldn’t have pulled that off. While the seven-time Super Bowl champion and GOAT may have been modest, it was high praise for Williams.
