His 24-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Carter Jr. stretched the Red Raider advantage back to double-digits and served as the first of 3 unanswered scores to end the game.
Hammond completed 13 of 16 passes (81.3%) for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns in relief of Morton. His impressive outing — which included 8 carries for 61 yards — should give Texas Tech confidence going forward, whether Morton misses time or not. The Red Raiders are on bye next week before traveling to Houston for a battle against the Cougars in Week 6.
