Winter Juniors qualifier Ainsley Stephan has verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin for the class of 2026
I am filled with immense gratitude and excitement to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Huge shout out to my Clippers and Bolles coaches for guiding me throughout my swimming journey. I would also like to thank my parents, siblings, and friends for supporting me every step of the way. Stephan is originally from Maryland where she swam for the Columbia Aquatics Association Clippers. Last season, she moved to Florida, where she began attending the Bolles School in Florida and training year-round with the Bolles School Sharks.
She saw significant improvement last season, dropping six seconds in the 500 freestyle to swim 4:51.91 at the Florida Class 1A State Championship meet in November, finishing 2nd overall. She also finished 4th in the 200 freestyle in a new personal best time of 1:48.93, two seconds faster than her previous best of 1:50.73.
At the Winter Junior Championships a few weeks later, she swam the 200 free, 500 free, 200 back, 200 fly, and 400 IM. She set new personal best times in the 200 back (2:01.27) and 200 fly (2:03.34), and finished 28th in the 400 IM (4:23.59).
At the USA Swimming Futures meet in Ocala, she finaled in the 400 IM, swimming 5:06.08 to finish 26th overall. She also swam the 200 free, 400 free, 800 free, 200 back, and 100 fly.

500 free- 4:51.91 400 IM- 4:21.06 200 fly- 2:02.11Wisconsin competes in the Big Ten where they finished 4th at last year’s Big Ten Championships, coming in more than 300 points behind 3rd place Michigan.
Stephan will help add depth to the distance program with her 500 free coming in at 7th on the team, her 400 IM sitting 5th, and her 200 fly coming in at 4th on the Wisconsin team. She has a year until she arrives on campus, and she has been following a steep improvement curve.
