Latakia – SANA
Syria’s Latakia Port has recorded a significant increase in ship arrivals and cargo volume in 2025, underscoring its growing importance as a key hub for the country’s maritime trade, a statement shared with SANA by the port’s PR manager, Ali Adra said.
Adra added that more than 290 ships have docked at Latakia so far this year, handling over 1.5 million tons of cargo. The increase follows a series of development measures, administrative reforms, and technical upgrades implemented by the port’s new management.
Port authorities have rehabilitated key infrastructure and repaired previously non-operational cranes, improving loading and unloading operations.
In May, Syria signed a 30-year agreement with French shipping giant CMA CGM to manage and operate the port, a move aimed at boosting efficiency and modernizing services.
