Robert Irwin revealed what his sister, Bindi Irwin, told him after he made his Dancing With the Stars debut during season 34 on Tuesday, September 16.
"I can’t help but get emotional when I talk about my family, I just — they are everything to me," Robert, 21, told Extra in an interview published on Wednesday, September 17.
Robert added that he spoke to Bindi, 27, following his performance, and he revealed the sweet message she shared with him. "I love you and I’m really proud of you," he recalled her telling him during their conversation, which he said "just means everything" to him.
"This process is the most incredible whirlwind adrenaline rush — it's the most beautiful thing and the most incredible thing I've ever gotten to be part of, and to have them there is everything to me," he continued of his family's support. "I'm so lucky."

In addition to Bindi, their mom, Terri Irwin, Bindi's husband, Chandler Powell, and their daughter, Grace, all attended the taping of Robert's first episode.
Robert also shared that it "made the night" for him to see "the look on my niece's face" when he was onstage. "She looked at me and she was like, ‘Yes!’ And I’m like, ‘If Grace is happy, I’ve won,'" he said.
Bindi previously competed on the show during season 21, which she went on to win alongside partner Derek Hough. Prior to his debut on season 34, Robert revealed the advice he got from his older sister.
“The advice she’s given me that I’ve really tried to cling to is just make it your own and just enjoy [it] because it's so fleeting,” he told People in an interview published in September. "It goes by so fast. She was there the whole way. I mean, she was there the entire show, and won, and she still said it felt like a blink."
