Head coach Mike Gundy is feeling the heat after Oklahoma State was crushed 69-3 last week against Oregon. He is looking to get his team back on track this week against Tulsa and show that the week 2 showing was just a bad outing. Tulsa is 1-2 to start 2025 after beating Abilene Christian in week 1 before dropping games to New Mexico State and Navy.

For Oklahoma State quarterback Zane Flores, it hasn’t been a strong start to 2025. In the first week, he was just 13/20 for 136 yards without a TD pass. Last week, he was 7/19 for 67 yards, and he threw 2 interceptions. Tonight’s matchup could go a long way in helping the freshman quarterback build some confidence before the Cowboys head into Big 12 play.

In Friday night’s second matchup, we have a Big Ten battle between Iowa and Rutgers. Iowa is 2-1 with its loss coming to Iowa State 16-13 in week 2. Rutgers won a close game in week 1 against Ohio by a score of 34-31, before ripping off impressive wins against Miami of Ohio (45-17) and Norfolk State (60-10). The Scarlet Knights will get a true test this week.

Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis is off to a great start in 2025. He has thrown 7 touchdowns without an interception so far this season and has thrown for 820 yards while completing 72.9% of his passes.

For Iowa, quarterback Mark Gronowski was much better in last week’s win against Massachusetts as he threw for 179 yards with 2 touchdown passes. In week 1, he had just 44 yards passing and followed that with 83 in week 2. Gronowski is a transfer from South Dakota State, where he threw 93 career touchdown passes and over 10,000 yards from 2020-24.
