High school junior Seth Morgan has announced his intention to swim and study at North Carolina State University for 2027-28. He wrote on social media:
“I am blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at NC State University. I would like to thank the Lord for blessing and leading me through this process. I would like to thank my parents, family, and friends for their support. Thank YOU to Coach Braden and ALL of the NC State Coaching Staff for allowing me to be a part of this incredible program. I beyond excited for what the future holds! GO PACK Isaiah 43:19”
Morgan swims year-round with Rocky Mount Family YMCA and specializes in breast and IM. We considered him one of the “Best of the Rest” breaststrokers in our Way Too Early ranking of top boys recruits from the high school class of 2027.
He kicked off the 2024-25 short course season with a bang, earning lifetime bests in the 1650 free, 100/200 breast, and 400 IM at YOTA’s 31st Annual Capital Classic. He won the 100 breast (54.11) and 200 breast (1:58.99), dropping a ton of time in each event, having come into the meet with seed times of 56.63 and 2:02.52, respectively. He placed 5th in the 1650 free (16:25.77) and the 400 IM (4:04.89) and 14th in the 500 free (4:45.72 in prelims). He closed out the year at Winter Juniors East, where he swam the 100 breast (20th place) and the 200 breast.
Morgan added 3 more PBs (100 fly and 100/200 IM) at North Carolina Swimming Short Course Senior Championships. There, he competed in the 100 free, 100 breast (2nd place), 200 breast (5th), 100 fly, 100 IM, and 200 IM (6th).
He concluded the SCY season at YMCA National Short Course Championships, competing in the 100/200 breast and 200/400 IM and placing 14th in the 200 breast.
This summer, Morgan updated his LCM times in the 50 free (24.75) and 100 free (53.79) at North Carolina Swimming Long Course Senior Championships. His best LCM breaststroke times (1:07.39/2:26.96) and 200 free (1:58.20) come from the summer of 2024.
