Suffice to say, the Cubs didn’t have much for Greene’s overpowering stuff tonight, and he carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning. I’m sure the Cubs’ post-celebratory state was a factor – how could it not be? I’m not even mad about it – but Greene deserves most of the credit.
Incredibly, Colin Rea was almost as (maybe more, by some measures) dominant tonight, notching a whopping ELEVEN strikeouts over seven innings of one-run ball. I’m gonna give him the Ankin Law “Making It Personal” Player of the Game honors, despite Greene’s performance. Rea was that good, and I’ll always opt for a Cub if there’s a reasonable choice.
