On September 18, Driver shared her opinion on what had happened via her Instagram Stories. First, Driver shared a screenshot of an Instagram post made by author and television writer Bess Bell Kalb. quoted part of what Kimmel said on his show that reportedly caused the suspension of his show.
As she shared the screenshot, Driver added, "The first amendament [sic] comes first...Doesn't it, or is that over now?"
Driver followed that up by adding an Instagram Story referencing comments recently made by Fox News host Brian Kilmeade.
According to The New York Post, during a recent episode of Fox & Friends, Kilmeade suggested that homeless, mentally ill people should receive an "involuntary lethal injection." He added, "Just kill 'em."
Kilmeade later issued an apology for his "callous remark."
Driver noted in her Instagram Story, "But @kilmeade says homeless people should be killed by lethal injection on Fox and Friends and he still has his job. The first amendment is for everyone. Even a__holes."
Her next Instagram Story showed a blank background with an image of Jesus peeking in from the edge. Driver also added an Instagram Story with an image of Benjamin Franklin looking as if he was giving someone the side eye. Both images would seem to suggest that in Driver's view, the men were judging the current situation negatively.
