The 2025 Farm Aid Festival lineup was already stacked with plenty of legendary musicians, and now, another is being added to the list. It's official: Bob Dylan will be performing at the special concert on Saturday, Sept. 20, supporting a great cause in the process.
The news that Dylan would be a last minute addition to the concert was announced in a press release by Farm Aid on Wednesday, which will take place in Minneapolis. He'll be in good company on stage, too — Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Kenny Chesney, and even more artists are already on the schedule.

When Farm Aid shared that Dylan would be playing the festival on the organization's official Instagram account, fans made it clear that this is a very welcome addition. Then again, this is Bob Dylan we're talking about.
"Cannot wait to be there," one fan wrote, while another commented, "I traveled down from Alaska for this! So excited! What amazing news!"
This year is the concert's 40th anniversary, and with a lineup like this, it sounds like it's certainly going to be one to remember.
What Is Farm Aid?
It's especially fitting that Dylan has been added to the 40th anniversary Farm Aid concert because he's a big part of the reason why the festival exists in the first place.
While performing at Live Aid in 1985, Dylan made a comment on stage that inspired Nelson to begin a new mission.
“I hope that some of the money that’s raised for the people in Africa, maybe they can just take a little bit of it, one or two million, and use it, say, to pay the mortgages on some of the farms that the farmers here owe to the banks," Dylan said on stage (per CNN).
This inspired Nelson to reach out to Farm Aid cofounders Mellencamp and Young, and 10 weeks later, the first Farm Aid concert kicked off — and Dylan was among the line up that year (and in multiple years since then, too).
According to Farm Aid's website, the concert has managed to raise over $85 million to support agriculture since then, not including this weekend's upcoming festival, of course.
Even if you won't be able to make it to Farm Aid in person, you can still watch the concert on Saturday night. It will air live on CNN at 6:00 p.m. CDT and stream on farmaid.org.
