‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Just Crept Past Another Popular Netflix Show to Break This Record

Netflix has been on a marathon run since it first started launching original content in 2013, and its latest hits truly have us doing the “Monster Mash.” From Stranger Things to Frankenstein, the streaming giant appears to have found its stride in identifying buzzy content that keeps viewers hooked long after the final episode. They’ve infiltrated the Emmys and the Oscars, and there are even rumors flying around that they're eyeing the music streaming market next.

While we’ll just have to wait and see what else they’ve got up their sleeves, though, we’ll have to settle for binging their other award-winning content ad nauseam. Whether you’re a Black Mirror diehard or you prefer to dive into one of the platform’s several true crime dramas, Netflix likely has something tailored for you. But of all the macabre, dark, and positively dreadful shows there are, one in particular has us trapped in its spell.

After gracing our screens for the first time just three years ago, Wednesday Addams has returned to Nevermore for season 2 of the eponymous show, and it’s safe to say this one is even better than the last. The instant hit show directed by Tim Burton follows our favorite anti-hero further into a world of mysteries and also gives us greater insight into the main character's psyche. We’ll save the spoilers if you haven’t watched it, but there’s even a cameo from a certain mega pop star that’s just so perfect.

With all the buzz surrounding the new season, it’s no wonder that the show is crushing records left and right, including one previously held by another decidedly dark and immensely popular Netflix show. According to recent reports, Wednesday Season 2 has officially entered Netflix’s list of its most popular English-language TV titles of all time. To be fair, the news was a bit expected considering the fact that Wednesday Season 1 currently holds the number one spot. By the looks of things, though, that could change soon enough.

    How Netflix Compiles Views

This season was split into two parts, and just two weeks out from the release of Part 2, the show jumped to a whopping 94.5 million views so far. That places this season at number 10, knocking fan-favorite show Stranger Things off the list. While it hasn’t hit the number one spot just yet, Netflix compiles its all-time lists by calculating each title’s total views until 91 days after its premiere. That gives Wednesday until early December to keep climbing higher up the chart.

While the feat is definitely something to celebrate, the next installment of Stranger Things is set to air in three parts starting November 26, and with it being the last and final season, it’s bound to be one of their biggest ones yet. In the meantime, we’ll be running up the numbers for season 2 and can’t wait to see what’s next for Wednesday and the gang.
