After nearly 30 years in business, Pleasanton’s Main Street Brewery is closing its doors.
Sunday, Sept. 21, will be the final day of service as the owners, Sharon and Matt Billings, announced that they’re moving on to the next chapter of their lives.
“Serving you and your families has been one of the greatest joys,” the owners wrote on a goodbye Facebook post. “We’ve shared meals, music, laughter, and stories. Along the way, we’ve made everlasting friendships, people we will always remember, and times that we will never forget.”

Sharon Billings told The Independent that the closing wasn’t reflective of financial challenges, but instead a signal that they were ready for something new.
“It’s time for the next chapter of our lives and to do the things we always talked about — take vacations, spend more time with family and even play some pickleball,” she said. “When you run a business you love, you are always there, and sometimes it’s hard to step away because it’s your true love.”
The pub will host its final football Sunday this weekend and close things out with a live performance by Cocktail Monkeys at 4 p.m.
“Please feel free to stop by (before the closing) to raise a glass, share a memory, and say goodbye,” the Billings posted on Facebook. “We would love the chance to see you before we close this chapter. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey.”
