The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written another letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) amid the handshake controversy in the India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025. Notably, the ICC had rejected the PCB’s demand to remove Andy Pycroft from the panel of match referees for the tournament.
Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistan after their victory at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 16. Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav defended the gesture, adding that they wanted to show solidarity with the families of the 26 civilians killed in the Pahalgam terror attack.
Pakistan was angered by India’s refusal to shake hands after the match. Pakistan team manager Naved Cheema filed a complaint with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), led by PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, alleging that match referee Andy Pycroft had instructed both captains not to shake hands during the toss.
The PCB then approached the ICC and threatened to pull out of the tournament if Pycroft was not removed from the panel of referees. However, the ICC reportedly rejected the demand.

Pycroft, one of two match referees at the Asia Cup alongside Richie Richardson, is set to officiate two more group stage matches, including Sri Lanka vs Hong Kong and Pakistan vs UAE in Dubai. The ICC has not released an official statement.
