Erika took to Instagram on Sept. 15 with a video of Kirk explaining to their young daughter how he asked Erika on a date right after interviewing her for a job.

"So we're here in Bill's Burgers in New York City and right near this very table was the first time Dada met Mama," Kirk told their little girl. "And it started as a job interview, and I was asking all these questions, asking all these questions—philosophy, religion, Jesus."
In the clip, he continued, "And then, I realized Mama was beautiful and smart and elegant and Christ-like. And so, I said, 'Forget this job interview, I want to date you.' And I said, 'I have enough friends,' and that's where your journey started."
Erika captioned the post, "... my favorite love story."

"He goes, 'You know, I'm not going to hire you,'" Erika recalled Kirk saying after the three-and-a-half-hour job interview. "He goes, 'I'm going to date you.' I froze. I mean, wouldn't you? ... I was like, 'How about we just be friends and see first, like see where it goes?'"
The clip then featured Kirk, explaining, "I told her I had enough friends and that I didn't want to be friends with her. So that was kind of a non-starter. But if she wanted to date, that would be great. I had enough friends."
Erika added, "Without hesitation, like zero hesitation, he goes, 'I have enough friends in my life. So either we're going to date or not.'" After asking if she had time to think about it, Erika said Kirk replied, "Yeah, you have until tomorrow night when I take you out for dinner, and then you can give me your answer at dinner tomorrow night. But know that the offer is on the table and I want to date you."
In the comments of the TikTok video, many users pointed out the unconventional way Erika's job interview ended.
One claimed, "So she was harassed on her interview," as another shared, "My nightmare date, cute."

In 2018, Kirk and Erika started dating before getting engaged in December 2020. They married in May 2021 and welcomed two children—a daughter in August 2022 and a son in May 2024.
On Sept. 10, Kirk—a conservative activist and the founder of Turning Point USA—was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. The alleged gunman was taken into custody on Sept. 12, following a manhunt, CBS News reported.
A memorial for Kirk is set for Sunday, Sept. 21, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
