The No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels escaped their Week 3 matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks by the slimmest of margins, and they did so without their star quarterback, Austin Simmons.
Simmons was a game-time decision against the Razorbacks after dealing with a lingering ankle injury, and was forced out of the game against Arkansas early in the first quarter when he re-aggravated the injury on a quarterback run.
Now, the Rebels are gearing up for their Week 4 showdown against the Tulane Green Wave, and the status of Simmons will be the primary point of emphasis as game day inches closer.
Ole Miss insider Zach Moreth asked Rebels’ head coach Lane Kiffin for an update on his star gunslinger on Monday, and Kiffin had a rather interesting update on the sophomore.
According to Moreth, Kiffin said that he “anticipates” Simmons will be the starter for the Rebels under center this weekend, which would be extremely surprising given how severe Simmons’ injury appeared to be in the moment against Arkansas.
