San Diego County to hold disabled veterans resource fair Oct. 22

The San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s Taxpayer Advocate Office will host a Disabled Veterans Resource Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the County Operations Center in Kearny Mesa. The event begins at 9 a.m. and runs until noon.

The fair will bring together more than 30 agencies and organizations, including the DMV, Passport Office, and Social Security Administration, which will provide same-day services. The San Diego County Assessor’s Office will also offer property tax saving workshops for disabled veterans.

    “As your elected advocate, my office is laser-focused on ensuring San Diegans, especially our veterans, receive every possible property tax saving to make homeownership more affordable,” said San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Jordan Marks. “My office is #1 in California for serving our disabled veterans and their families because making their homeownership more affordable is my way of honoring their service and sacrifice.”

    The event will take place in the County Operations Center Chambers Courtyard, 5520 Overland Avenue, San Diego. Veterans and their families can register online for more information.

    San Diego County’s Disabled Veterans’ Exemption Unit is the top-ranked office in California for processing property tax exemptions. In 2025, the office helped 20,081 disabled veterans and surviving spouses qualify for property tax savings, totaling $35 million, according to a news release.

    Marks was elected Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk in 2022 and oversees the fifth-largest Assessor jurisdiction in the United States. His office has expanded outreach programs, added online services, and reduced paper use. In 2024, he received the San Diego County Taxpayer Association Watchdog Award for saving taxpayers millions of dollars, the news release added.
