The friendship between Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis and boxer Ricky Hatton was well known. The men bonded over their hometown, as all of them are from Manchester, England.

Hatton was such a big fan of the band that the Gallagher brothers famously carried his title belts to the ring in 2008 when he fought Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas. After Hatton won, he met up with Oasis in Mexico for their performance, and they celebrated his big win.

"Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be a boxing world champion, support Man City and listen to Oasis," Daily Mailreported Hatton saying. "But I became a four-time world champion in two weight classes, ended up boxing at the Etihad Stadium in front of 55,000 people, and became mates with Noel and Liam Gallagher over the years."

Hatton's last known appearance before his Sept. 14 death is believed to be in August when he was spotted at a bar in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Hatton took the stage and sang the Oasis hit "Wonderwall."

Ricky Hatton's Death Mourned by the Boxing World

Fellow British boxer Amir Khan shared a touching tribute to Hatton following his death. The lengthy message read, in part, "Today we lost not only one of Britain’s greatest boxers, but a friend, a mentor, a warrior, Ricky Hatton. As fighters, we tell ourselves we’re strong — we train, we sweat, we take hits, we get up. But sometimes the hardest fight happens in silence, in the mind. Mental health isn’t weakness. It’s part of being human. And we must talk about it. We must reach out. We must lean on each other."
